Women’s Digestive Health Care
Approaching care from a woman’s perspective
Our women’s health team understands that women’s physiology is different from men’s. For this reason, we have created the Women’s Digestive Health Care Center, offering the collaborative expertise of a team of both male and female gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to assure that patients receive immediate care when necessary. Our team treats patients with a variety of digestive disorders that occur during every stage of a woman’s life, including menopause and pregnancy.
Women are more susceptible than men to certain gastrointestinal problems because of the physiological differences in their digestive tracts. Understanding how these differences, as well as hormonal levels, affect digestive issues is critical in our approach to care.
Gastro Health physicians are experts in diagnosing and treating the full range of GI concerns common to women, and our medical team includes several female physicians who specialize in this area. If you are more at ease relating to a woman doctor, you’ll find their sensitive manner and skilled, knowledgeable care both comforting and reassuring.
Our woman-to-woman care also includes six highly-qualified female physician assistants and a predominantly female nursing and Endoscopy Center staff.
Our specialized care for women includes the following GI issues:
- Acid Reflux or (GERD) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
- Colon Cancer Screening & Prevention (number 3 cancer for women in US*)
- Celiac Disease
- Hemorrhoids
- Iron Deficiency Anemia
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (occurs 2-6 times more often in women*)
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (more frequent in women by 2:1*)
- Gallstones (twice as likely to develop in women*)
- Obesity (Post Pregnancy Weight Gain)
- Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
- Pregnancy Related Reflux
- Fecal Incontinence
We believe patients should be well informed about their health. We take the time to explain your care, respond to your questions and alleviate your concerns. We also keep your primary physician informed with prompt, detailed reports.
If you are experiencing digestive health issues, suffering from hemorrhoids, or need a colon cancer screening, we encourage you to give us a call.
