GANV History

Since opening our first office in 1998, GANV has committed to partnering with patients and providing quality medical care. Founded by Kenneth R. Mirkin, MD, who later merged with Michael A. Garone, MD and Peter L. Scudera, MD, the Fairfax office has been serving the Northern Virginia community for over 21 years.

Our team of experts is comprised of (18) Board Certified Physicians and (7) Certified Physician Assistants, dedicated to enhancing gastrointestinal and liver care. Our PAs are key members of our unique medical team. They have been educated, trained, certified and licensed to practice medicine. They collaborate with our physicians in delivering skilled, personalized care.

Our physicians serve in leadership roles at Inova Fairfax (GE Lab, Advanced Endoscopy Center) and Fair Oaks Hospitals, on medical advisory boards, and on medical society committees. They also hold clinical faculty positions with Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital and actively participate in training gastroenterology fellows and medical residents. Many of our physicians are included in the annual Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Arlington Magazine "Top Doctor" lists. Inclusion in these prestigious lists are particularly special to our physicians, as they are based on peer nominations received by over 3,000 area physicians.

As the population of Northern Virginia has grown and diversified, GANV has continued to raise the standard of excellence to meet the full range of patient preferences and clinical needs. We have both male and female physicians of various ages and ethnic backgrounds. Many of our physicians are fluent in several languages including: Spanish, Korean, French, English, Amharic, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Turkish, Polish, Gujharti and more! In our efforts to provide accessible, affordable and accredited services, GANV has also partnered with LanguageLine Solutions which offers language support in over 200 languages at no additional cost to our patients. Convenient, outpatient clinics are available in Fairfax, Fair Oaks, Chantilly, and Herndon. Dedicated to decreasing out of pocket costs for our patients, GANV providers are contracted with most major health insurances and our team handles testing and specialty medication prior authorizations. We provide the highest quality and safety standards through accreditation at our outpatient endoscopy centers located in Fairfax and Chantilly. Infusion Services and GANV Health & Wellness Services are now available Infusion suite at our comprehensive care center in Fairfax. In early 2019, GANV opened, Health & Wellness Services offering a comprehensive array of obesity and obesity associated endoscopic weight loss procedures to help improve quality of life for patients coping with chronic diseases and conditions.
