Coronavirus Update 3/9/2020

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

RE:  3/9/2020 Flu and Coronavirus Update

Dear Patients,

Thank you for choosing Gastro Health as your preferred digestive and liver care provider.

Gastro Health is monitoring concerns over the 2019-2020 strain of influenza “the flu” and COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. Led by Dr. Ahmed Hegab, Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Miriam Beyene, RN, Director of Clinical Care, our team is taking every precaution to protect the health of our patients, staff and healthcare providers.

Although the immediate risks of contracting the flu or COVID-19 is considered low overall, individual risk is dependent on age, health history and exposure. Unless symptomatic, we recommend you continue to attend your regularly scheduled medical procedure, office visit, or infusion therapy appointments. Please contact your healthcare provider BEFORE making any changes to your scheduled medical appointments.

As a precautionary measure, we are implementing the updated (March 8, 2020) CDC, (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines and are now pre-screening all patients, to identify symptomatic patients, prior to in-office appointments. Depending on travel history and exposure risks, patients experiencing symptoms related to any viral illness are asked to obtain a 14- day clearance from their primary healthcare provider, before proceeding with a Gastro Health appointment.

Symptoms may include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore Throat
  • Shortness of Breath / Difficulty Breathing

IF SYMPTOMATIC, PLEASE SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER. YOU WILL NEED A 14 DAY CLEARANCE BEFORE VISITING OUR CLINIC.

To continue to reduce risks, please:

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water

  • Utilize an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze into your inner elbow

Thank you for your assistance in preventing the spread of the Flu and Coronavirus.

Please call 703-698-8960 to make any appointment changes or notify us through your patient portal at MyGANV.com. For more information regarding influenza or the coronavirus, please visit www.cdc.gov.

Sincerely,

Gastro Health Care Team
